Today’s blog post is an interview with fellow group blog member, Jennifer Armentrout, whose latest novel has just been released!!
PURE
Book 2 in The Covenant Series
By Jennifer Armentrout
There is need. And then there is Fate...
Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn't exactly awesome--especially when Alexandria's "other half" is everywhere she goes. Seth's in her training room, outside her classes, and keeps showing up in her bedroom--so not cool. Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do--and sacrifice--for her.
When daimons infiltrate the Covenants and attack students, the gods send furies--lesser gods determined to eradicate any threat to the Covenants and to the gods, and that includes the Apollyon... and Alex. And if that and hordes of aether-sucking monsters didn't blow bad enough, a mysterious threat seems willing to do anything to neutralize Seth, even if that means forcing Alex into servitude... or killing her.
When the gods are involved, some decisions can never, ever be undone.
1. The premise for your book is so cool! Can you tell us how the idea for your book came about?
I've always been fascinated with Greek Mythology, so when I started writing the Covenant series in 2007 with Half-Blood, it seemed fitting that I incorporate that into my story. I'm really inspired by stories that have strong female leads. The original concept started with Alex and how she was different from the rest of her kind. It sort of spun out from there.
2. Who's your favorite character in PURE? What are some of the attributes or flaws that make him/her your favorite?
I've got to say that my favorite character in Pure is Seth, mainly because he gets a lot of screen time and readers will become more familiar with him.
3. Any upcoming projects you'd like to tell us about?
Well, I'm working on the Lux Series books and projects under my adult pen name J. Lynn. I'm going to be tackling a YA mystery/thriller for Disney/Hyperion next.
4. What are some of your favorite books?
Anything with romance, intrigue, humor and romance.
5. It appears you're on a successful path, can you tell us a little bit about your journey to publication?
I kind of went the unorthodox way, signing first with a small press and then obtaining agent. I think a lot of writers believe you have to get the agent first and then the contract, but that's not always the only avenue. Success comes in many different forms.
6. What advice would you give to beginning writers? Writer's on submission? Published authors struggling to get that second book published?
The biggest advice I can give is to never give up. I know it sounds cliche, but it's the truth for writers at any stages. Publication is not easy. I don't think there's one easy step in it, but if it's something you're truly passionate with, keep at it and you'll succeed.
Thanks Jennifer for letting us have a closer look into your world. We wish you much success!!
